The Zoo!!

If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE the zoo!! Any zoo is good, but the one near my house is my favorite. One of the things that I have been dying to do with Andrew is to take him to the zoo. Today, that wish came true. The weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time. Andrew liked the animals and smiled at several of them---especially at the giraffe's super-long tongue (or was it because of the slurping noise I was making while we watched the giraffe lick the tree?)
We even got a map of the zoo with the animal names printed in Spanish!

This was the very first animal I saw at my very first zoo.
He BIG! He REAL big!!
(Elefante)

This was the baby giraffe and he was still REALLY tall!
(Jirafa)

Eating cheerios was cracking me up today. I was making Mommy giggle and then I would laugh even harder!

Mommy's favorite animal is the Polar Bear, so we had to stay there longer than we did at the other animals. We got to see one of the new babies and we saw the daddy polar bear.
(Osos Polar)

Daddy bear--he stays by himself

Baby Polar Bear--he is in a habitat with his mom.

I really liked looking at the tiger, but right after we took this picture, he went and laid down on a rock to take a nap. Boring.
(Tigre)

Almost Halloween....

Andrew wore his Halloween pajamas the other day (Thanks Annette!). They are really soft and VERY cute.

Medical tests

I thought I had already posted this, but I just looked and it's not here. (I'm blaming it on a lack of sleep.)
I got a call from the physician's assistant the other day....all of Andrew's tests were negative/clear. YIPPEE!!! I was worried about TB and parasites, but they were both negative.
Thank you, God!

One month ago today...

Andrew became a U.S. citizen. How appropriate is it that he got his Certificate of Citizenship in the mail yesterday along with a letter on White House stationery welcoming him into the country.

Sleep, glorious, sleep

Last night was our best night of sleep so far. It was WONDERFUL!! He went to bed at 8:30...woke up briefly at 12:00...woke up for a bottle at 2:15....and slept until 7:45. Niiiiiiice.
He only had his bottle of water one time last night. This morning, I found it on the floor.
Yesterday, he learned that his crib has spaces between the slats and that he can throw his bottle out of those spaces. Fine by me. :)

Hat

One of my favorite books as a little kids was "Go, Dog, Go". I especially liked the part where the girl dog kept asking the boy dog if he liked her hat and he kept telling her 'no'. I loved that he was just telling her the truth, even if it wasn't what she wanted to hear.

"Hello"
"Hello"

"Do you like my hat?"

"I do not like your hat."

"Good-bye"

"Good-bye"

Soooo....."Do you like my hat?"
(I'm pretty sure it will look better with a coat than it does with pajamas.)

Outfits

Several people have given Andrew outfits. Many of them are 12 months so he doesn't fit into them yet. But some of them are 9 months. I remember to take pictures of him in them, but I don't always remember to show the pictures to the people who gave him the outfits; so here they are. Aren't they (he) cute?

From Theresa:

Thanks JoAnn!!

From Tara:

Nikki rocks!

Did you give him an outfit and I didn't include it? It's not because we don't love it...it's because I'm brain-dead. Remind me in the comment section and I'll post a picture!!

I WANT TO CRAWL!!

Andrew is SO close to crawling. He tries so hard but just can't figure out how to get up on his knees. If I put him on his knees, he takes a nose dive into the floor. I hope I have my camera in my hand the first time he figures it out!!
This video is a little bit long but it shows him scooting around and "talking". If you wait for the two-minute mark, you'll see him trying very hard to crawl.

Look at those legs!

Andrew was not putting any weight on his legs when he first came home. Look at him in his exer--saucer today!!
(the video is dark, but if you watch his legs, you'll see him actually stand up several times)

Look what I can do!

I can feed myself!!
Today is the first time I ever did it. I've been practicing on big stuff like books and shoes, but today was the first time I was ever able to get one of those tiny little puffs into my mouth.

This is going to make Mommy's life MUCH easier!!

I have to use two hands sometimes.

Walking with Friends

Last night, we went for a walk with Kathy and Nicholas. It's one of the things I've been looking forward to doing with Andrew.
Nicholas is so cute. He says, "Baby Andrew" and wanted to hold his hand while we walked.

Mommy 101

5 things I've learned about being a mom in the last (almost) three weeks:

1. It doesn't really matter how I look. No one is looking at me anymore.

2. Naps are no longer a luxury---they're a necessity.

3. If you stop wearing shoes in the house, you can pick stuff up with your feet.

4. A dirty floor will ruin a cute picture.

...and last, but not least...

5. In a pinch....bibs have two sides.

GO BEARS!!!!

Ok, Bears. I'm finally home and I'm ready to watch the game with Mommy. I'm sitting in our favorite chair and I want to see a win!!!

I'm watching you guys and I want to see some action!!

GO BEARS!!!!

Morning

How am I supposed to make my bed when there's a baby in it?!?

Presents!!

While we were at Guatoberfest, Andrew loved two of the toys that Kemry brought. My brother and sister-in-law gave Andrew a gift card, so today we went and bought the same toys. His eyes lit up when I opened them!

He also got a wagon!! My friend's husband works for a car dealership. The owner's wife heard about our adoption process and has been really interested in seeing Andrew come home. At a fundraiser last week, she bid on and won a wagon for him!! Wasn't that nice?? I don't even know this woman and she bought my son a wagon!! I can't wait to take him to the zoo in his new wagon.

Random Pictures

Because I know you're looking for new ones everyday. :)
