Time Out

Andrew had his first time out today. He keeps crawling behind the TV and turning off the power strip. "No" wasn't cutting it. lol

Rockin' the day away

Andrew's new favorite place to sit is in his rocking chair. He pushes it from the dining room into the living room next to my chair where he sits and rocks and watches a little TV.

Airplane

Tonight at dinner, I was getting Andrew to eat his yogurt by making airplane noises and 'flying' the spoon into his mouth. After he had made it clear that he was done with the yogurt, this is what he did with his snap pea puffs.

Earthquake

We had an earthquake in Illinois today. No one was hurt--everything it still standing. It is bringing back so many memories for me, though, of my visit trip with Andrew. We had an earthquake then, too. Andrew was asleep in his crib while I was updating everyone on the computer and the whole room started to shake. It only lasted a few seconds but it seemed like a lot longer. Even then, my motherly instinct kicked in. I stood over Andrew to make sure nothing would hurt him if it fell, but there was NO way I was waking him up unless I absolutely had to! He slept right through it. It was my first earthquake, but not his. Guatemala has them pretty frequently.
Again, there was no damage and no one was hurt, but it was something exciting to put in his baby book.

Here is what he looked like during our first earthquake together.

Corn-on-the-cob

What can I say? The boy loves corn.

This was his first experience with corn-on-the-cob. I guess he liked it. By the time he was done, there were about 20 kernels left on the cob.

Uh-oh

One of Andrew's first words was "uh-oh". He usually says it right after dropping (throwing) his food on the floor. (like the food just accidentally leaped off the tray all by itself) He rarely talks in front of other people so I feel like I need to show you proof that he says real words.
Here he is saying "uh-oh".

by the way...if your child is around Andrew's age and they don't have this train, GET IT! He likes it so much that I got to dry my hair and put on my make-up before he started destroying my room this morning. (Thank you, Pat!!)

Where'd my baby go?

Andrew got a haircut today. The woman who cut it used a little gel on it and styled it. It's so cute, but it makes him look like a little boy instead of a baby. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

Andrew is 15 mos old today. 15 mos is supposed to be the month of milestones. I'll keep you posted!

I'm not sure if you can see it very well, but it is pushed up in the front. Very grown up.

Andrew's first mom

One year ago today, Andrew's first mom held him for the last time. They were having their DNA tested and she had to have her picture taken holding him. I'm thinking about her so much today hoping that she has gotten my letters and pictures of Andrew. I pray that she has peace about her decision and knows how much he is loved.
Andrew and I have three pictures of her (two of her holding him) but I am not comfortable sharing her picture without his permission. They are in his lifebook and he can choose later whether or not to share them with others.
I hope that in the future, he can meet her and she can see what an amazing little boy he is.

Luke Chair Walker

The walking toy that Andrew has moves too fast on our wood floors. He's found his own walking toy.

Calling Gramma

Andrew has a play phone that talks to him. The voice says, "It's Gramma" and "Soy Abuelita" (same thing, but in Spanish). Andrew has been playing with it more lately--holding it up to his head and saying "huh" (his version of 'hi').

Now, what is her number?

It's ringing....

Gramma, can you hear me?

Saturdays

I have always loved Saturdays (maybe because I was born on a Saturday) but Saturdays with Andrew are even better. He gets to sleep in a little bit (8:40 this morning--but he was also up 3 times last night) and he wakes up happy and ready to play. We usually stay in our jammies until after nap time and I get some cleaning/organizing done--while he does his best to un-do all my good work. :) It is gorgeous here today and we have all the windows open.
It's so fun to have him around while we do everyday kinds of things.

Here he is this morning looking adorable.
