Happy New Year!

Tonight we celebrated New Year's Eve and the anniversary of becoming an official family with a make-your-own pizza night.
It was Daniel's first time 'cooking' and he's a complete natural. I expected him to make a huge mess but he did really well and knew exactly what to do. I'm thinking about turning over dinner prep to him every night.

Rolling out the dough:

Adding sauce:

Mushrooms:

Cheese!

Their favorite part was drinking sparkling apple juice out of real cups.
See their personal pizzas? They each ate the whole thing!

One year ago today...

this little boy officially became my son.

Christmas train

The boys spent one last day playing with the Christmas train before it was put away for the year. Daniel is fascinated with trains right now and loves to just sit and watch them go around the track.

Aloha!

Andrew's sister was in Hawaii right before Christmas. She and her mom sent these adorable outfits for the boys. As soon as they had opened them, they were stripping out of their jammies to put them on.

I know the picture is a little fuzzy. I think my hand was shaking from the excitement of having them both willingly pose for a picture at the same time.

Snow and Santillis

We stopped to see some of our favorite friends on our way to Philly. As usual, we had a great time. Logan was so excited to see Andrew and immediately whisked him away to play Wii with him. Devon was in love with 'Dylan' (Daniel) and wanted him to play with her the whole time. Unfortunately, he only had eyes for the dogs and chased them relentlessly (unless he was playing with the trash can which has a step and is apparently better than any toy he has at home).

This was Daniel's first real experience with the snow.
He did a lot of this:

Devon and Andrew rebuilt the snowman:

Logan made snow angels:

And Tara and I took over 200 pictures each. When we got tired of shooting pictures of the kids, we took pictures of any kind of nature we could find. We were obsessed with trying to capture bokeh the whole time I was there (darn Pioneer Woman and her assignments).

Since Daniel had never really played in the snow before, I couldn't help but take a ton of pictures of him. It was also easier to photograph him because he couldn't move very fast in all his snow gear.

See that little bit of carrot under his mouth? That was supposed to be the snowman's nose but Andrew has been an eating machine lately and couldn't help himself.

Andrew's first taste of an icicle.

He ate 4 of them.

It's never too cold to be patriotic.

Smooooth jazz

We had a big package waiting for us when we got home today from my sister, Krista. I let the boys open the presents tonight rather than toting them all the way to Philly with us. I'm so glad I id because they loved them! They both got a package of matchbox cars--a huge favorite right now. Andrew immediately hugged the cars and said, "Thank you, Santa!" Then they opened something even better than matchbox cars...musical instruments! Daniel got a microphone and Andrew got a saxophone. They love both of them and immediately put on a show for me.

You know what he's thinking, right?
'this toy is going to drive Mommy crazy!'

I'm not sure why playing the sax makes your nostrils big, but they looked like this in every picture I took of him.

This one cracks me up. He was so serious about his singing.

Santa!

The boys went to see Santa today. As usual, Andrew climbed right up into his lap and starting talking to him like they were best friends. Daniel was not as sure. He warmed up a little bit when Santa handed him a gift but still didn't want to sit on his lap.

He obviously had something very important to tell Grinch.

He must REALLY love Max...he shared his cookie with him.

Who knew that the Grinch and Max were such good dancers?

On our way out, Santa got a handshake from Daniel. That's huge.
