Whew! What a week.

I am SO glad it's Friday. This was my first week back at work and Andrew's first week in daycare. I'm pretty sure he handled it better than I did. :)
I have been sooooo tired this week. I started with a very sore throat on Tuesday morning combined with some nasty headaches and by yesterday I was pretty sure I had strep. Nope. Just a sinus infection. Whoever invented the Z-pak should get a medal or a hug or a big chunk of money---something really great.

I promise to try to post some new pictures this weekend. We have a lot going on and hopefully there will be some good photo opportunities.

Andrew's laugh

Andrew's laugh cracks me up. While we were at my parents', Grandad was doing silly things to make Andrew laugh. If you listen closely, you can hear him snort while he's laughing.

Poor little guy

Andrew has pink eye. It's almost gone and he's on medication for it, but he's been feeling miserable. On top of that, he has a tooth coming in and it's really hurting him. He goes from crying to laughing to crying in a second.
Have you ever put drops in a baby's eyes?? It's HARD!! lol Good thing I've had a little practice at holding kids. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Andrew LOVED Thanksgiving dinner. You should have seen him 'gobble' up the turkey and the peas and the mashed potatoes and the sweet potatoes! I've never seen him eat that much. He even let me feed him with a spoon. About 1/2 way through dinner, he was exhausted. I put him in his crib and he went right to sleep! All that eating wore him out!

Here's a 'before' shot of dinner.

Watching the parade. He LOVES balloons.

My first craft!!

Andrew went to daycare today for 1/2 a day. He did really well. A few tears, but he settled in and was fine. When I got there (an hour early because I missed him) he was just waking up from his nap. Gale was kind of bummed because she had a craft ready for him to do. I LOVE crafts. I stayed and we got to do it together. Isn't it cute????

I took this picture right before I left him.(I couldn't leave without getting a picture of his first day at daycare, could I?)
He was looking out the window at the birds.

Like my slippers??

I bought these slippers for Andrew while I was Guatemala visiting him in June. They are so cute on him and super warm. I wish I had a pair for myself!

Stuck

Andrew still can't crawl, but he sure can scoot around. Yesterday, I left the room to put something away in his room and I came back to find him trying to pull the lamp cord out of the outlet. Yikes. Today, he thought it would be fun to get under the chair I was sitting in. It was fun--until he couldn't get back out. :)

Cute expressions

Andrew has the cutest little facial expressions. It's hard to catch them on camera because they change so fast, but the other day, I got a few of them.

Author! Author!

I met Tomie dePaola!! He was great! He read from his newest book and then signed books and even let us take pictures (not all authors will do that). I'm such a weird-o. Now, if only I could have met Emily Dickinson and Louisa May Alcott!

In this video clip, Tomie is explaining one of the rules of speaking like the people in New Hampshire. If you listen closely, you can hear Andrew giggling.

Best Friends

Andrew loves Curly-Bear.
When I put Andrew into his crib, he immediately rolls to his side and looks for his bear.

Look at him holding Curly's hand (paw)!

Who needs the actual presents and cards when you can play with the paper?

My son, the foodie

I'm a foodie. I love to cook food, eat food, learn about new foods and watch people make food on TV. Andrew is right there with me. He doesn't eat a lot, but he likes just about anything I put in front of him. And just like his mommy, he loves Bobby Flay!

Here he is watching Bobby Flay on Sunday morning:

He LOVES sweet potatoes and squash but hates eating from a spoon. Here's our compromise:

Are you sure you're ready for this, Gramma?

A busy weekend

We had a really busy weekend. On Saturday, our friends Pam and Dan threw a 'welcome home' party for Andrew and some of our friends. We had a really good time. Pam made a wonderful lasagna and a killer cheesecake. (She could seriously sell these things for a LOT of money.) Andrew smiled and giggled and showed everyone his wonderful personality.

Andrew got lots of new toys!

Andrew loved Daisy!

On Sunday, we went to a 1 year old birthday party for a friend of ours who was also adopted from Guatemala. It was the first time that Andrew 'noticed' other kids. Now, we have to work on waving and smiling instead of grabbing other kids' faces.

Swings

Most of you don't know this, but I have an irrational fear of swings. I didn't have it as a kid--I loved to swing, but now I'm very afraid of them. I'm ok if there's only one person swinging, but if there is more than one person on the swings, I feel panicky. Weird, huh? I thought I was the only one with this weird phobia until I saw the episode of Friends when Rachel wouldn't let Ross put Emma on the swings because she had the same panicky feeling. So, I'm not weird, right? Right?
I decided that I had to get over it for Andrew's sake. I took him to the park the other night and put him on the swing. Guess what?? He hates them!!! Woo Hoo!! I don't have to pretend (at least for a while). Is he the perfect kid for me or what???

This video just shows him swinging--it's hard to see the terror on his face. He started screaming right after I stopped recording. He did, I swear!
