Fun with Grandad

My mom had some toys for Andrew in a box. Of course, he dumped out all the toys and played with the box. Grandad showed him how to have some real fun with the box.

(sorry it's so dark. I tried to lighten it, but it's not working.)

Andrew's been tagged

Andrew was tagged by Amy.
Here are 10 things about Andrew:

1. Andrew LOVES music--especially Latin music. If he hears music, he will stop what he's doing and turn toward the music. He dances to any Latin music he hears.

2. Andrew is a great traveler. He will ride in the car for about 6 hours before he starts complaining.

3. Andrew is an animal lover. He will approach any pet. He can say "dog" and likes to watch the dog shows on TV.

4. He loves books. He will sit and look at them for quite a while. (not always right-side up) He sits still for 2-3 books a night.

5. Andrew will only eat table food for me but will only eat baby food at daycare. I wish he could talk because I would really love to know what this is all about.

6. He gets very shy in large groups, but in places like restaurants, he flirts with everyone in sight.

7. He sneezes 4 times every morning after waking up.

8. Andrew LOVES the bathtub. He will play in there even after the water gets cold and does not like to get out.

9. If he could be naked all the time, he would be. He gets mad when I put clothes on him. He can take off his socks, his pants and his diaper.

10. Andrew is a morning person. He is cranky for about 5 seconds and then starts giggling, pointing and playing peek-a-boo.

talky talkerson

Andrew has started talking! It's so fun to hear him saying words and repeating things that we say.

So far he can say:

bye-bye
uh-oh (said: uh...........oh)
ha ('hi')
dog (thanks to Tara's GIANT dogs)
no, no
da-dad (Grandad)
ack, ack (quack, quack)
mu ('more'--said while signing 'more')
ba-ba (bottle)
igh-igh (night-night)

He can sign:

'milk' and 'more'

If you had told me a month ago that by Easter he would be standing, cruising and talking, I would have said you were crazy. :)
Here's a short video of him saying "da-dad".

Easter Day

Andrew had a great first Easter home. We went to the early church service at Gramma and Grandad's church. Then we came home and opened our baskets (yes, I still get a basket). Later, we went and picked up Grandmom Wilson and had Easter dinner at about 5:00. It was a great holiday.

Listening to the music at church.

Visiting friends

Andrew and I were supposed to fly to see Gramma and Grandad. American Airlines had other plans. They cancelled our flight 13 hours ahead of schedule because there was a 'chance of snow'. (but I'm not bitter) So, I loaded Andrew into the car and we drove. Our friend Tara was nice enough to let us stay with her overnight on short notice. We had a GREAT time and made our change of plans totally worth it. (Thank you, Tara!!!) Andrew had a couple of 'firsts' while we were there. He said, "dog" and he gave me a kiss--the first one I haven't had to steal.
Here are some pictures of our wonderful visit with them:

Andrew with Rich. He LOVED Rich.

Rich came out to meet us at the car and Andrew immediately got a big
smile on his face and said, "Hi!"

Easter in Guatemala

Easter is a very significant holiday in Guatemala. It is filled with art and tradition. I would love to take Andrew back there during Holy Week when he is old enough to understand it.
"The first religious procession in Guatemala happened in 1543 and was modeled after the processions that took place in Spain. Antigua, Guatemala is home to the world's largest Holy Week celebration. Processions take place on Fridays and every Sunday in Lent and throughout Holy Week, culminating in a joyous resurrection procession on Easter Sunday. On Palm Sunday, the men wear traditional Maya costume."
The people of Guatemala make the most amazing sawdust carpets. There was one in the lobby of the Marriott when I picked up Andrew and I stared at it every time I walked past. They're really unbelievable. Here is a website that shows pictures of the sawdust carpets.

If you browse around the website, there is good information and wonderful pictures of the Easter traditions in Guatemala.
