Even superheroes take baths

The boys are big into superheroes right now. The only ones they ever really watch are the 1960's episodes of Batman and Robin. Everything else is still too scary or too hard to understand. But they love the idea of them.
Their bathroom has been slowly undecorating itself. I used an animal theme when Andrew first came home five years ago but most of the things that were in there are either worn-out or broken. You're going to find this hard to believe but Daniel's kind of rough on things.
So after the boys went to bed tonight, I scrubbed down their bathroom and then redecorated it with all the things I've been collecting and creating for the last couple of months. I can't wait to see their faces tomorrow when they see it.

That super cute vinyl was made by Tara over at Peace, Love & Pixels.

This bathmat looks like it is made of metal--perfect for when a man of steel wants to take a bubble bath.

Isn't this mirror fun? I had a different one in mind but we saw this at IKEA today and the boys loved it. (and it was only $5!) It's hard to see here but the fuzzy-looking part is actually tiny dots like you would see in a comic book.

Chipboard letters covered in comic book pages.
The awesome vinyl pieces were cut out by my friend Tara.

Every super hero needs a cape.

We were super excited to watch the Olympics tonight.
We started the day with a trip to the park to begin training for the events.

Mixed track and field:

Balance beam:

Mixed cycling:

Men's soccer:

I'm not sure what event this was.

After that, we went home and made our countries' flags so we could show our support during the parade of nations.

We are ready to for the opening ceremonies!

Monogram Prints

Waiting during an adoption STINKS! Fortunately, the boys keep me busy. REALLY busy. Worse than the wait, though, is not knowing when it will end and not being able to DO anything to make the wait shorter. It feels better when I can do something during this process--something that makes it seem as if I am helping to get Manno home sooner. I know it's an illusion but it's my illusion. Don't ruin it for me, ok?
So, in an attempt to pretend that I am making this process move faster and raising money toward the adoption at the same time, I've created some things to sell.

Each print is custom made to your specifications. Choose the colors, monogram/name, background (stripes or chevrons) and country shape (if you want one).
You can also go over to facebook and like the Hoarders for Haiti page. When I get to 250 likes, I'll be giving one of these away.

Picture day!

We got new pictures of Manno today. He is ridiculously cute and if Andrew and Daniel didn't need me right now, I would be spending my summer in Haiti hugging and kissing this adorable boy.

Waiting for the tooth fairy

Andrew hurt himself while we were on vacation and when I looked into his mouth to see if he was ok, I saw that he had a new tooth coming in! It was a bottom tooth and it was almost all the way in. I checked his baby teeth and two of them were loose!
Today, he lost the first one! And when I say 'lost', I mean I got tired of waiting and pulled it out.
While we were out running errands today, I told him that the new tooth was waiting for the parking spot and the old tooth needed to leave. I suggested that he let Daniel pull it out. While I was driving home, I heard him in the backseat talking to his tooth, "When we get home, I'm going to brush you and then Daniel is going to pull you out." ha!
He was a good sport and as soon as he had brushed his teeth, he let Daniel try to pull it out.

Daniel didn't understand that he needed to grab it and pull up so he just kept pushing it forward and making it bleed. He was relieved of his duties.

A new tactic.

This was when I took matters into my own hands, so to speak.

It's gross and beautiful--all at the same time.

The boys have been sleeping together in Daniel's bed since we got home from vacation (why am I buying a third bed?) but tonight Andrew told me that he is going to sleep in his own bed so the Tooth Fairy won't wake up Daniel. I'm pretty sure that's his way of making sure that Daniel doesn't get his money.
Andrew said he hopes that the Tooth Fairy brings him a tiny treasure box with a magical white gem inside of it. Instead, he's getting 4 quarters from the bottom of her purse. The Tooth Fairy is not always as prepared as she should be.
