Pirate park

We found a new park today. I liked it because there wasn't anything super high to climb. Daniel has become quite the daredevil and can climb to the top of almost everything he sees. His balance is not super steady yet so my nerves are usually shot by the time we leave the park.
But the very best thing about this new park is that it has one of these:

See what I mean? This one isn't high but he could barely make it down the hallway without tripping when he first came home. Now look at him! I make him keep his shoes on just to slow him down a little.

Grandad is NOT going to like this picture:

Can you believe how old he looks here? Four months ago, I had to cut his sandwiches into little bite-sized squares.

(PS...we did not leave the baggies on the ground.)

Trikin'

We took the boys' trikes out to the tennis court today so they could ride around without having to worry about cars.

I have issues

I can't stop taking pictures. I am in love with my camera (I've been doodling 'Mrs. Ruthanne Canon' on my notebook...it has a nice ring to it, don't you think?).
While we were in MI for less than 48 hours, I took almost 300 pictures. Yesterday, I took the boys on a 4-mile walk and stopped at least 15 times to photograph nature. And then after I upload them, I *have* to run a bunch of actions on them to see what fun things I can do to them.
Why am I telling you all this? Because after I take all those pictures, I don't know what to do with them so I'm going to make you look at them.

Say 'yes' to Michigan

We spent the weekend in MI. Andrew had still not been to Lake Michigan and Daniel has never even been in a pool (that I know of) so I was dying to take them to the beach. Our plan was to hang out Friday and Saturday and then go to the zoo in Battle Creek on Sunday but the weather turned ugly on Sunday so we never got to the zoo.

The house where we stayed had a great yard and the boys immediately went out to explore.

Apparently, he really liked the great outdoors.

Yards are even fun in your jammies.

Pete and Repeat:

On Saturday morning, we went to the beach. Daniel LOVED it. He wanted to be in the water the whole time. His favorite thing was sitting right at the edge of the water and letting the waves smack him in the face. The higher the wave, the better.

Andrew prefers to play in the sand NEAR the water...not in it.

Buried up to his neck:

To infinity and beyoooond:

Surfing like the Backyardigans:
(seriously, he told me, "take my picture, mama. I surfing like the Backyardigans.")

After a nap and some dinner, we went back to the beach to play at the playground.

Did I mention that the Daniels' family went with us?

If I had the patience that Ellie and Harper have with my kids, I'd be up for 'mother of the year'.
