Unity

I've been thinking about this theme all week and then yesterday, in my Sunday School class, the teacher spoke about Unity. One of the things that Bill said that I loved was that when we are in unity together...we 'activate God'. I see this so much in the adoption community. I have met the most amazing women (and men...but mostly women) through the adoption process and I am constantly in awe of the support I have experienced among them. Women who have never met face-to-face celebrate, cry, support, cheer and pray for each other.

Adoption is hard. Life is sometimes hard. And being a parent is definitely difficult. All of it is easier, better and more manageable with friends and a strong, supportive community. I am blessed to have found a great group of people during both of my adoption processes. I am also blessed to have a wonderful church family who have been excited and prayerful with me. And I am especially blessed to have parents who have been nothing but supportive during this journey.
If you are reading this...you are one of these people and have touched my life and the life of my sons in some way. Thank you for that.

  6. What wonderful words you used Ruthanne, to describe the world of adoption. As an adoptive mother to my daughter Carissa (who is now 18) I still feel the connection to you and all who share their experiences with their adopted children. Not that long ago,I had the pleasure of meeting a woman who is in her mid 50's who told me she placed her son up for adoption over 30 yrs ago and as she spoke she began to cry because she still felt the sadness. I told her my story and told her it's a person like her who I consider to be "my angel" for without her I would not be given the opportunity to be a mom to my daughter. Our connection was immediate. The love we have for our children keeps us connected and unified! God bless you and may you be safe in your upcoming travels.
